MESA Program

Welcome to the LBJHS MESA Website!

MESA is a program that introduces students to math, science, technology and engineering through hands-on projects, guest speakers, and field trips.  It can also help you start thinking about college and what it takes to get there.  MESA students work with their peers to build gliders, prosthetic arms, popsicle-stick bridges, Lego Robots using EV3 mindstorm, and much more.  They also get to travel to Fresno State to test their skills and projects against other MESA students from around central California.

Mrs. Mascorro is the MESA advisor at Los Baños Junior High School.  A typical MESA class might involve working on a MESA project, listening to engineers or scientists talk about their jobs, or showing off your work to your families.  In addition to classes, MESA students also have the opportunity to attend Saturday Academies at Fresno State.  These Academies will give you the opportunity to meet MESA students from other schools, try out new projects, and get ready for the MESA Day competitions.  For the most part, students do not have to pay anything to be a part of MESA.
